Ephesians 6:18
At every opportunity, pray in the Spirit with every kind of prayer and petition.
What is praying in The Spirit?!
It is a prayer born from the Spirit and not the flesh. However, it does mean that one has to pray in a Heavenly Language to pray "in the Spirit". It refers to the" input source" and not the "output source"
The input source can be from the Spirit or the flesh. Coming to the mind again there are 2 types:
1. The spiritual mind - where the Spirit is the source.
2. The carnal/fleshly mind - where the carnal self which is influenced by the external world is the source
Romans 8:6
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
To get a better perspective on Romans 8: 6 let us see what the preceding part is saying:
Romans 8:1-5
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
There are different kind of prayers in The Spirit!
Let us consider the verse again!
Ephesians 6:18
At every opportunity, pray in the Spirit with every kind of prayer and petition.
Here are some:
1. Praying with the mind - but the source is the Spirit!
You will mainly pray then with a language that people can understand! But because it is a prayer coming from "the Spirit" it will have create power!
2. Praying from the spirit - the source is the Spirit!
You will be praying from the spirit in a Heavenly language not known to men - it is the Spirit (Holy Spirit) that gives the utterance. It also has great power!
3. Praying with groaning - the source is also the spirit!
Scripture itself explain it the best!
Romans 8: 6
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Amen!
